SAINT ANDREW’S AQUATICS EVENT SURCHARGE AND TRAVEL COSTS POLICY
Saint Andrew's Aquatics participants will continue to be billed an additional surcharge fee for all competitive events that we attend. The intent of these surcharges is to assist with the travel expenses and associated costs absorbed by our coaching staff to attend the events.
Local Meets in LSC no hotel needed = $10 per swimmer
Local Meets in LSC 2 to 3 days no hotel = $25
Meets in LSC requiring hotel due to distance and time = $50 per swimmer
Regional Meets 2 + nights hotel stay $100 per swimmer
National Meets 3 or more hotel nights $150 per swimmer
With this new surcharge plan, we will no longer utilize FGC Travel Fund Reimbursements to cover National Level events for coaches. 100% of FGC Travel Funds will be issued to each qualifying athlete who completes the forms and returns appropriate receipts within thirty days of travel.
The guidelines for athlete reimbursement are on the FGC web page HERE
1. Saint Andrew’s Coaches are to be the only sources of swim coaching, technical corrections, and training instructions for all swimmers representing our team. This includes, but is not limited to, parents coaching children away from team practices and of course giving specific technical instructions during competitions and/or training periods. Any outside coaching other than Saint Andrew’s Aquatics staff must be approved in advance. This includes but is not limited to strength training, weights, and dry-land regimens. We will support approved clinics and camps and individually consider any circumstances where athletes may have access to outside professional coaching or instruction.
2. BASIC TEAM EQUIPMENT - The following equipment is mandatory: Platinum - cap, goggles, fins, paddles, kickboard, front snorkel Gold- cap, goggles, fins, kickboard, front snorkel Silver- cap, goggles, fins, kickboard, front snorkel Bronze - cap, goggles, fins, kickboard Mesh Equipment Bags may be hung on deck. For all competitions athletes are expected to wear Saint Andrew's Team Suit, Cap, and T-Shirt.
Club Parents - Parents are expected to be compliant with our team policy on positivity. As we teach our athletes, complaining about anything you have no control over is detrimental to our team and to their own happiness. You should avoid negative statements and/or actions that could be interpreted as such. We have a philosophy deeply rooted in positive support and as such we expect all parents to understand this philosophy and follow through as participants. Only neutral and positive interactions with other parents, teammates and coaches are acceptable. If a complaint or question arises in regard to any of our policies, procedures, or day-to-day instruction the only appropriate avenues for discourse are with the Head Coach or Head Administrator. Negative behavior may result in immediate loss of membership.
General Practice Policies
- Upon entering from Jog Road, turn right past the gatehouse, following the perimeter of the main parkinglot (54) and continue to the south end to Weprin Center (lower school) for drop-off along that walkway. Please do not enter the pool circle for drop offs or pick-ups.
- Parent/Driver of athletes may park or leave campus and return prior to conclusion time. Parking should never be done at reserved spaces that include a family name and sign.
- Athletes are not to be dropped off at practice earlier than 15 minutes before the start of athlete's scheduled practice time.
- Parents may park and pick up athletes at steps of pool deck at the end of practice.
- Parents are not permitted on deck, as per Saint Andrew’s School policy, but they may observe practice from anywhere outside the fence.
- Athletes must be picked up promptly at the conclusion of the athlete's scheduled practice time.
General Swim Meet Policies
- Meet entries must be confirmed well in advance from your account online and before the posted deadline. Coaches will always have the final say as to what events are entered, however swimmers/parents are welcome to select potential events in advance.
- Always make plans to arrive promptly at the designated time announced by our coaches.
- Swimmers are expected to stay in the team tent, and parents should find their own seating away from that area. This allows us to continue to build our team culture and allows for our athletes to enjoy each other. It also means that the coaches will know where all the swimmers are and for them to get them to their events on time.
- Swimmers are welcome to meet with and talk with their parents for short amounts of time throughout the swim meet, and positive encouragement is always welcome.
- Parents are not permitted to stay in the team tent. Bronze meets will have a coach or parent assigned to the team tent so that young swimmers are not alone, and get to the blocks on time.
- Immediately after each swim, swimmers must talk to their coach FIRST to get valuable feedback.
- Eating before and during swim meets is an area parents can provide great support. Pre-meet meals the day before and especially the day of swim meets should be nutritious and easily digestible. In longer sessions it may necessary to have something healthy, a banana or small snack is sufficient. Chips, soda, or other junk food are not permitted and we advise steering clear of non-sanctioned sports drinks.
- Be sure to bring plenty of water! This is an athletic environment that includes learning good nutrition.
- Any parents with questions on anything about the meet, should feel free to ask any coach leading up to the meet. At the meet, coaches usually are so busy that having extended parent talks is just not possible. Therefore, any parents who have been with us and notice new faces, please offer help, as a first swim meet can be overwhelming, and we have many great parents with swim meet experience.
- Before leaving a meet, please notify the coaches first. Sometimes there are relays that your child may be entered in and other times there are meets where the coaches require everyone to stay until the end.
The only way we can instill the team rules is with parent cooperation so we truly appreciate you all
understanding and adhering to these policies. Any questions or concerns please direct to either Coach Sid
[email protected] or Kara [email protected]
I hereby confirm that I have read, agree, and will comply with all of these stated policies and procedures. Registration with Saint Andrew's Aquatics confirms agreement to same.
